I believe that the divine energy of the universe resides within us each of us, connecting us and making up who we are – in this way, through my eyes, I see God, a higher power of love reflected back at me through the eyes of those I meet, as I journey on this beautiful earth now.
“Inhale, and God approaches you. Hold the inhalation, and God remains with you. Exhale, and you approach God. Hold the exhalation, and surrender to God.“ Krishnamacharya
A New England transplant to the Joshua Tree desert in southern California, I am experiencing the unfolding of each new season with the wonder of a child, each moment, new, unexpected and full of surprise. I am a 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified instructor and I believe that it is on the mat that we begin to scratch the surface of the journey inward, to the depths of who we are. It is through the practice of yoga exercises, that we, breath by breath, movement by movement, start to surrender and release resistance of Self and in this way, we come home and home again to the divine trinity: mind – body – soul, that we are.
I am a contemplative spirit and find writing to be a grounding meditation and so, as I begin my journey of 365 days – expanding my knowledge of meditation practices, sitting in mediation and inviting the practice into activities of my daily life, I begin with writing – reflecting on who it is I am and where I am now. Honesty, to me, is one of the most important things we can gift ourselves and the world. When we are honest, we are aware of how we are reacting: emotionally, impulsively, quickly and responding: pausing to reflect on what is unfolding, speaking from a place of authenticity; we come to know ourselves at a deeper level and those around us, as we open up space for honest dialogue. When we speak honestly, we allow the voice of our Soul to be listened to, heard and expressed. With all this said, I commit to speaking honestly on this journey I am beginning to embark on.
